Cookology Ovens

  • What is the difference between built-in and built-under ovens?

So you’re buying a brand new oven or cooker to complete your new kitchen? Great! To finish the look, you’ll need to make sure your new Cookology oven fits perfectly into your kitchen.

Put simply, a built-in oven is an integrated oven that seamlessly fits into your kitchen design. These ovens can be hidden behind a unit or blended into your units creating a more discreet design and staying cleaner in most cases.

An example of a built-in oven is the Cookology 72cm Built-In Double Oven (product code CDO720BK), which is classed as a “built-in double oven” as it has to go into a kitchen unit. This built-in double oven has been developed by Cookology to fit under your kitchen counter in a standard-sized cavity and is designed to distribute heat evenly, and quickly to cut the preheat time down as much as possible.

Comparatively, a built-under oven is much like a built-in oven but with one key difference. A built-under Cookology oven is designed to sit on the kitchen floor and go under your countertop. Built-under ovens are shorter than built-in ovens and often they have less space inside each compartment.

An example of a built-under oven is the Cookology Built-Under Double Oven (product code CDO720SS) is described as a “built-under double oven”. Simply put, this means that it fits under your worktop. This model in particular is also built-in for the fact that it needs to be built into a housing unit, and has enamel sides and removable shelf racks and doors to make cleaning a breeze compared to other ovens.

  • Why is my oven not heating up?

Sometimes an oven has been set to a timer and you won’t be able to just press on and go. Cancel the timer order and you should be up and running!

If the oven has been unexpectedly turned off, such as in a power cut, and the clock is flashing 0.00, you may need to reset the clock.

If these fixes do not solve your problem, contact our customer service team by email or by phone so that they can take care of the issue straight away.

  • Why is my oven making other appliances trip and switch off?

This is most often an installation error. We recommend calling the installer or, if that is not possible, an electrician.

You can check whether it is the oven causing the issue by switching several other appliances off while leaving one or two on, such as the kettle, and then switching the oven back on. You may find that it is a different kitchen appliance causing the issue!

  • Can I make cleaning the oven any easier?

Many of our Cookology ovens have removable shelves and enamel interiors, making cleaning an easier task. To clean, remove the shelves/trays and soak them in warm and soapy water. Lightly scrub the inside of the oven with a scourer and your prefered cleaning product, and wipe down internal surfaces with a hot sponge. Let everything dry and put them back in. Don’t forget to clean the oven exterior afterwards.

  • Why do I need to preheat the oven before cooking?

Timings for cooking food generally relate to an oven that is at the specified temperature, so to correctly follow the cooking guidelines you need to preheat the oven. Fan-assisted is the optimal mode for general cooking. There is usually an indicator light above the temperature control that switches off when the selected temperature is reached.

  • How can I be sure I am getting the right oven for me?

Cookology’s online store is packed with information on each of our ovens, including its features, dimensions and energy rating, so you can make an informed decision on your next oven unit. This way, you can easily pick out exactly the unit that’s right for you.
